AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco (American professional soccer player) plays as a striker. She also serves as captain of San Diego Wave FC of National Women's Soccer League, the highest level of women's professional soccer. From 2018 to 2020, she was a co-captain of America's women's national soccer squad together with Megan Rapinoe. [8][98][9] Morgan was selected by the Western New York Flash at the number one spot in the 2011 WPS Draft. She had completed her degree from Berkeley in the early part of the year. Morgan also played for California Golden Bears. Morgan made her debut as a professional there , and was a key player in the team's winning the league championship. Morgan aged 22 at the time was the youngest athlete on the national team in the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup, which the team finished second. In the 123rd minute of the semi-final game against Canada during the 2012 London Olympics she scored the game-winning goal. Her 2012 ended with 28 goals, 21 assists, and Mia Hamm was the only American woman to score both 20 and 20 goals. This made her the 6th-youngest U.S. player ever to achieve 20 goals in one season. After being named U.S. Soccer Female Player of the year, Morgan was also a FIFA World Player of the Award finalist. Morgan has also played a role in helping the United States win their titles at the 2015 and the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups, in which she was selected to the Dream Team for both tournaments and also won the Silver Boot in 2019.
